Healthy Eating The Subliminal Way

Bunny Rabbit and Carrots WalletCould art make you healthier? I read in the newspaper this week that health officials at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that fewer than one third of American adults eat the recommended 5 daily servings of vegetables and fruits. It is my belief that one way to help us all make better choices is through the use of functional art. Decorating your home with fruit and vegetable motifs can provide subliminal messages encouraging you to choose fruits and veggies because they are important to your diet.

Fun Cherries Key ChainHow might you do this? Clip up your grocery list on your fridge with a Grape Magnet. A bright Apple Night Light in the kitchen can be a gentle reminder to make good choice when those nighttime munchies strike. Even your keys can offer up positive messages when they feature a Cherry Key Chain. If you carry a Metal Wallet with Carrots, it might make you pause before hitting the candy rack when you’re on the road or selecting heavy meals at restaurants. Even small steps such as these may provide the needed incentive to reach for healthier snacks. Any actions that help along the government’s goal of getting 75% of Americans to eat 2 fruit servings and 3 vegetable servings each day by 2010 is a positive step. Everyone wants to live a long, healthy life, right?
